Zodiac Rectangular Butcher's Block is made from Hevea wood and has a hard-wearing end grain construction.

The Block is a seriously chunky chopping block with high-end grain construction providing a hard-wearing surface that is also kind to knives. This block has an oiled rather than lacquered finish, which emphasises the natural look of the wood as well as allowing it to breathe

To protect and prolong the life of the wood board, wipe occasionally with a light coating of vegetable oil (note - this will darken the colour of the wood).

The advantage of (Hevea Wood which comes from a Rubberwood tree) rubberwood is that its a dense grain that is easily controlled in the kiln drying process. This makes is easily manageable in the kitchen. However, rubberwood is not suitable for outdoor usage.
